Caribou hunting is always exciting because the hunter faces a
migratory animal. Contrary to popular belief, the animal is much more cunning
than one expects, especially the huge trophy bucks. They have a keen sense of
survival. Overconfidence will lead to utter disappointment.
The physical immensity of the territory, the area's drainage network and geology
are just astonishing. The hunting sites are picked based on the movements of the
herd from Rivière aux Feuilles. It normally reaches our territory around the end
of August when the buck's antlers are still covered in velvet. Their full sheen
is only achieved by mid-September. The topography and vegetation allow various
hunting techniques: following herd movements in mountainous regions, lying in
wait at the edge of lakes or in dense vegetation.
It is a known fact that the camp leaders of Cargair outfitters are nature,
wilderness and environment enthusiasts. They all possess their very own mystical
soul. They know their territory and its characteristics inside out, they are
part of it and with a touch of unpretentiousness they will give you advice
during your stay together. You can hunt with a firearm or hunting bow.
